Conversations that Connect: A PowerUp for Educators, Parents & Leaders in Africa

Overview

In classrooms, workplaces, and communities across Africa, communication is often the bridge, or the barrier, to understanding. This PowerUp helps educators, parents, and professionals strengthen the way they listen, speak, and connect with young people and one another. Developed by the Squaring the Education Pyramid Institute (STEPi), the course draws on African experiences and perspectives to explore how communication builds trust, resilience, and shared growth. Participants will learn practical, research-informed strategies for navigating difficult conversations, fostering inclusive dialogue, and strengthening relationships that encourage collaboration and belonging. Whether you’re leading a classroom discussion, mentoring students, supporting colleagues, or guiding children or young adults at home, this PowerUp offers actionable tools to communicate with clarity, compassion, and confidence, skills that are vital for shaping the next generation of African learners and leaders.
